This course will show you how to model CO2 Storage and Capture in the GEM simulator for aquifers. Starting with simple structural trapping and moving on to mineralization, a 2D model will be made and more CCS modeling tools will be added over time. Each new method will be thoroughly tested to see how it works. The PVT program WinProp will be used to enter the characteristics of the components, as well as the aqueous and mineral reactions. As part of this class, we’ll talk about the geochemical modeling abilities of GEM as well as its geomechanical modeling abilities.
